Kicking It

First off, Hurray! Sopa/Pipa have been delayed for the time being. That just gives the silly Government more time to rewrite and rethink what they want to do. I’m hoping from the internet black out they will actually realize what they are trying to do and just put a stop to any kind of censorship all together. They  need to realize that no matter what, what they claim to be trying to prevent (Copyright infringement) will never go away, even if it’s “censored”.

As far as me goes, nothing much to update on. Just work work work. I spent the weekend in Redding which was very nice. I got to see my friends at Nathan’s Anthems Tattoos/Piercing hung out for quite a while and even went out to a bar later that night. Got some pinball action in with Dallas, listening to some Reggae jams, and eventually stayed over with a friend. Cool stuff. In the morning (I say morning because that’s when I woke up, but the day was half way over by this time) I woke and walked in the rain back over to the shop to warm up before I hit the road again. I started my journey through Redding in the rain, thankfully someone picked me up half way to my I5 On-ramp destination for hitching. I stood for about 2 or 3 hours before being so cold and wet I decided to take a break and walk to the Denny’s across the street. Had some dinner, and then went out into the rain again. About a half hour in a guy picked me up and took me all the way to Red Bluff where my dad picked me up and took me to Chico (I paid for the gas though).

Last night was good. Went to the gym for a good hour and a half and then stopped by safeway on the way home to pick up some Liquids (milk, almond milk, juices, and cottage cheese) and when I was unlocking my bike to go home a homeless man walked by me. I said hello like I do to anyone passing by, and he smiled and kindly asked me for change so he could try and get some food later that night. I told him “I only have my debit card, so tonight is your lucky night. I am your buffet!” So he wanted McDonald’s and that’s what he got. He got a couple cheese burgers and friends and a drink. I sat outside on the curb with him while he ate. We shared stories, laughed, and related on a bunch of things. When I told him of all the things I have seen and done in the last couple years he was amazed. Finally I had to leave though, it was getting late and I still needed to eat myself. I gave him my business card saying if he needed any help he could call, and said good night. Before I could leave (prepare this tissues, this is the touching part in the story) he told me “The food was really good man, but what I can’t thank you for enough is giving me your friendship.”

He was a good person, he just had a rough start in life, and now, like a wild dog, it is hard to change his ways. Best of luck to him with his future travels of the    States though!

New Year!!!! Feels Good Already!

Before I get into all the good positive stuff, I would like to take a second and share a very brief bit on how I feel about the current talk of the web would would be SOPA and PIPA! Firstly, fuck that. Excuse my French. But this is the hugest violation upon American Freedom Of Speech in EVER! If this passes who knows what else will happen, but getting away with this will open the door for some many unconstitutional laws to be passed with little opinion from the public. It’s times like these when it is really obvious how important the internet is. I don’t watch television, so this may be wrong, but I would have not heard about these bills when they were birthed originally  a few years ago if it had no been for the internet. The people are not being informed of this through any media outlet other than the internet, and up until recently no one really knew about it, and even now, after   today the Internet Protest Black Out, I still encountered people who had no clue what was going on. My parents, who actively keep up on current events had only heard about this, and when I expressed my feelings towards this they did not understand why I am so upset and passionate about this. They don’t see it as that much of a big deal, because they aren’t seeing the bigger picture because they don’t’ know enough to see it! And that’s exactly what the government wants I’m assuming.  So, if you haven’t already, please head on over to Google and Sign there Petition HERE.

Enough of that now and onto the good stuff! I’m just gonna get right into it. I did my first suspension this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada! It was a total blast, 4pt Knee. The pictures will be at the bottom. Andrew S. of the Swing Shift Sideshow in Vegas and Shane von Ranniger facilitated this suspension for me and did a great job. It was in the back yard of a Townhouse, but it was actually perfect. It felt very personal, and andrew was very comforting and welcoming. The pain was no where near as bad as I was anticipating. I was up for about 20 minutes, and then laid down on a bed of nails as well which I feel was more painful than hanging! I could talk for hours though. And I wanna make this quick as usual, lol

Along with my suspension in Vegas I got to see my sister, nephews, and brother-in-law for the first time in a little over five years! Was so nice to see them all again, the boys have grown quite a bit.  mason didn’t seem to remember me though, Justin did though. :) It was a great visit and I stayed with them the entire time. I also got to meet up with my friend Alex who I met in Munich this summer so that was pretty sweet.

That’s all, going to go and do some studying for Python, trying to learn the language.

Hello 2012

In a little under two hours that is. I figured I should say hello one last time before the turn of the year. As I wrote about last time, this has been a great year for me. I have accomplished quite a bit and grown even more as a person. I am truly happy with the adult I am becoming.

There is not much else to say really. I found the journal that I thought I lost which is good news, and I got my septum pierced as well which is very awesome and also a very powerful feeling.

A fun story for the end of the year. On Friday December 30th, I made my way up to Redding to visit Nathan’s Anthems to talk to friends and see friends, and get pierced of course. All of those things happened and it was great fun. But the best part of the night was meeting this kid named Andrew. He was 22 years old and from Boston. He had hitched and train hopped his way across the country and was just stopping in to see if anyone knew what there was to do in Redding. Pretty quickly he realized there was nothing to do in the town, but we all ended up chatting it up with him. I offered to let him stay with me in Chico as I was hitching back that night, he declined saying how he wanted to go to see the Redwoods. After a bit of thinking I decided to join him! We got along pretty good as it was, so after Joey closed down the shop we found some cardboard and started on our journey. It was pretty slow going. And we didn’t get anywhere. one guy stopped and offered us Trimming work, which we politely declined. Shortly after that we walked down to a valero to ask for rides to Eureka. The first people we asked were in a Two seater truck with a campershell. There was like 5 kids total and 2 dogs. So no room at all. they thought long and hard about taking the both of us because they were headed that way and had hitched before themselves. But no luck. they couldn’t fit us.

so we took to the corner and then I thought for a second and said “hey dude, if they can take just you, then hop in man, I don’t need to hold you back, your the one traveling right now, no me.” Sure enough they were able to take him, so he hopped in, said good bye, and I started my journey home. I ended up bumping into quite a few people that  knew which was cool and led to me getting a ride to a spot to thumb it. After about an hour I was picked up by a Truck Driver who took me to Red Bluff. I walked across town and stayed at my friend’s apartment for the night. Made back to Chico tonight around 6pm.

So with that being said, Good by 2011! It was a good time together and I will never forget you. Hopefully 2012 proves to be just as good if no better! Cheers everyone!
